Der Sohn des Bärenjägers (The Son of the Bear Hunter) is Karl May works in the series of Stories for Young People. Published for the first time as a series in several magazines and as a book in 1890 along with six other works, which were Der Geist des Llano estakado (The Ghost of Llano Estacado) in a same book, Der Ölprinz (The Oil Prince), Der Schwarze Mustang (The Black Mustang), Der Schatz im Silbersee (Treasures of the Silver Lake), Das Vermächtnis des Inka (The Testament of The Incas ), Kong Kheu, das Ehrenwort (Kong Kheou, The Vow), dan Die Sklavenkarawane (The Slave Caravan), All in the same series of Stories for Young People.
The Story
The story is about Old Shatterhand and Winnetou helping aboy named Martin Baumann, the son of Baumann the bear hunter to rescue his father, whom was captured by the Sioux Oglalah Indian.
The story begins with the journey of two friends, Davy the tall dan Jemmy the fat. They rescued a red skin boy named Wohkadeh, whom was cought by a group of white people. It turns out that the boy was conveying a message to Marin Baumann about his father, whom was cought by the Oglalah Indian. In this rescue mission, they were helped by Martin himself and his friend Hobble Frank, whom are following the tracks of those white man because they stole their horses.
The five, added by Negro Bob, soon departed to rescue Baumann. On the way, they met Old Shatterhand and Winnetou whom agreed to help. Now the team consisted of eight men, added by two groups of Indian people, the Shoshones and the Upsarocas. Together they headed for Yellowstone National Park in an effort to rescue Baumann the bear hunter.
